Messrs. Owen, Carlson, Realie and Mack celebrated the many accomplishments of the Glenview Hangar One Foundation’s successes under Ret. Col. A.C. Realie, including executing the preservation of the control tower and north and south pod facades of Hangar One finalization of the first phase of Navy Park, inclusion of Naval Air Station Glenview memorabilia in the Glen Town Center, and the successful Memorial Brick Program that will enable Hangar One to finalize Navy Park at no cost to Glenview taxpayers.

Ret. Col. A.C. Realie said "There are 257 granite bricks in Navy Park, and the balance of the 500 on order will be laid in Navy Park, along with the bronze Yellow jacket and Sailor Mechanic statues, in the spring of 2004. More personalized bricks will be available for sale until the allocated space for granite bricks, in Navy Park, is full. The Glenview Hangar One Foundation is very grateful to the Village of Glenview for providing the financial support to purchase the three bronze statues replicated from the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL., in the form of a loan, to be repaid from the net proceeds of the Memorial Brick Program. I am pleased today, to present to Mr. Larry Carlson, President of Glenview, and a third generation veteran of Naval Air Station Glenview, a check in the amount of $27 thousand, representing the first repayment installment under the referenced loan. The Glenview Hangar One Foundation is certain, that we will repay all amounts lent to the Foundation by the Village of Glenview, for the three referenced statutes for Navy Park, from the net proceeds of the Memorial Brick Program."

Ret. Col. A.C. Realie concluded by stating “its been an honor and a pleasure to serve as the President of the Glenview Hangar One Foundation these past two years. There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots. We succeeded because we learned from the mistakes of others, and as such, not only survived but thrived. I look forward to serving the Officers and Directors in my new capacities of Chair Executive Advisory Board and President Emeritus.”

Frank Mack spoke of his platform as incoming President of Hangar One “In the Spring 2004, the six-foot bronze statues of the Yellow shirt and the Sailor-Mechanic will join their Navy Aircrew man brother to honor Navy Park, along with the next series of personalized granite bricks under the Memorial Brick Program. Sometime in May or June 2004, the Glenview Hangar One Foundation will facilitate a second military Dedication event, to celebrate the completion of Navy Park.

From October 17-19 2003 thousands of people supported the Glenview Hangar One Foundation by attending the first Dedication of Navy Park and visiting our temporary exhibit, the Museum of NASG Aviation History. One of my goals is to realize a permanent Naval Air Station Glenview Museum, in Glenview, preferably in the Glen Town Center, during the tenure of my presidency.

The goal of realizing a Museum that commemorates Naval Air Station Glenview History has been one of the more important goals of the Foundation since its inception. Under my Presidency, the realization of a Museum will be in Two Phases:The Glenview Hangar One Foundation is fortunate to have a friend and supporter in Dene Oliver and OliverMcMillan, who have agreed to provide us space in the Glen Town Center, next to Jos. A. Bank, so a temporary Naval Air Station Glenview Museum can be realized in the short-term.

Phase One, the temporary Museum is easy: the rental agreement, signage, artifact selection, and display determination is already underway, and on budget to be finalized in time to be open for the referenced 2004 dedication ceremony in Navy Park.
Phase Two, the Permanent Museum, is more ambitious and complex. Next month, a Museum Committee will be formed to create a Permanent Museum Business Plan. It is my sincere hope, and belief, that an achievable Permanent Museum Business Plan will have the political and financial support necessary to open a Permanent Naval Air Station Glenview Museum during calendar year 2005.

The Challenger Learning Center is another one of the more important goals of the Foundation since its inception. As many of you know, the Glenview Hangar One Foundation possesses a license to operate a Challenger Learning Center Northern Illinois. As with the Museum, the Glenview Hangar One Foundation is dedicated to locating a Challenger Learning Center in the northern suburbs of Chicago, in Glenview at The Glen Town Center if possible. Under my Presidency, the Foundation will bring the realization of the Challenger Learning Center closer to execution by identifying and soliciting potential strategic partners for this complex and costly endeavor, and facilitating a Joint Business Plan for its realization. It is my sincere hope, and belief, that before the 2005 annual meeting, we will have preliminarily identified the strategic partners and political and financial support necessary, to take the Challenger Learning Center Program materially closer to execution.”

Mr. Mack also noted Hangar One’s significant supporters As Ace Realie would say ‘as no Man is an Army, no one Foundation is a Force’. The Foundation’s achievements would not be a reality without our allies and friends at the Village of Glenview, and its Glen Redevelopment Project, developer OliverMcMillan, and other supporters:
Larry Carlson, President of the Village of Glenview, and a third generation veteran of Naval Air Station Glenview
Don Owen, EVP of the Glen Redevelopment Project, and a veteran of Naval Air Station Glenview
The Trustees of the Village of Glenview
Dene Oliver, Principal of OliverMcMillan
Paul Buss, Officer of OliverMcMillan

Mr. Mack concluded with “I’ve said enough, it’s time for celebration today, and hard work during 2004-2005. Thank you for your trust and belief in supporting me as the President of the Glenview Hangar One Foundation.”
