Q:
What is the most appropriate way to personalize a brick for a military
veteran under the Navy Park Brick Program?
A: The first set of personalized bricks have been
placed in Navy Park at The Glen Town Center and are available for
immediate viewing. We recommend that you visit Navy Park for ideas,
write down the concepts you like, and bring these and any military
information you have on the veteran you wish to memorialize to the
temporary Naval Air Station Glenview Museum (once opened). If you
do not live in the Chicago land area, or otherwise are unable to
visit Navy Park for ideas, please contact Ret. Lt. Col. Gerritt
Van Wissnink at vanwissink@compuserve.com,
or contact him at 847-827-0555, for Navy Park Brick Program assistance
Q:
What is the most effective way to inquire as to the status of personalized
bricks on order, or to notify Hangar One of any changes to personalized
bricks on order, under the Navy Park Memorial Brick Program?
A: Contributors
to Hangar One via the purchase of personalized bricks are reminded of
two issues.
The
first issue is that there is a limited amount of space in Navy Park
for approximately 1000 personalized bricks, and Hangar One is selling
the referenced bricks under the Navy Park Memorial Brick Program
on a first come first served basis. At January 1 2004, there is
space in Navy Park for approximately 500 more bricks. All orders
will be returned unprocessed to Contributors to Hangar One once no available
space in Navy Park exists, and the Navy Park Memorial Brick Program
is terminated. After the referenced Program is terminated, Hangar One
is considering the creation of a Glen Town Center Memorial Brick
Program, for the purchase of personalized bricks for installation
at strategic locations on Tower Drive in the Glen Town Center. Hangar One
will keep its members and supporters informed of the status of the
Navy Park Memorial Brick Program and the Glen Town Center Memorial
Brick Program.
The second issue
is the cycle time from order entry to installation for bricks purchased
under the Navy Park Memorial Brick Program. During construction
season, under the best of circumstances, there is a 90-120 day time
from order purchase and processing to installation in Navy Park.
PLEASE NOTE THAT Hangar One CANNOT GUARANTEE BRICK INSTALLATIONS IN TIME
FOR INCLUSION IN THE JUNE 19, 2004 CELEBRATORY EVENTS FOR ANY BRICK
ORDERS RECEIVED AFTER APRIL 2, 2004.
Orders received after July 31, 2004 will likely not be installed
in Navy Park until the spring of 2005. However, Hangar One will acknowledge
each personalized brick order via letter and certificate after said
order is received and processed by Hangar One.
Changes to the
wording of personalized bricks are available on a case-by-case basis.

anent units there for many years, and even the Air Force had a small
